What do I do for step 3?
    • (Step 1 and Step 2 first)

    • Understand the Planning Scheme index map.
      (i) The Planning Scheme area is divided up into manageable map sections (on the index map).
(ii) Each code on the index map (eg. '1HO') represents a particular detailed map.
      Index map example: Code example:
This is an example of what an individual planning scheme's index map looks like - where the area is divided into map sections (one map section has been outlined in red) This is an example of what the codes in one of the index map sections look like
      Index map divided into sections
      - one section has been outlined in red
      - each section indicates the boundaries for the corresponding set of detailed maps
      - each section has at least one code on it. eg. '1', '1HO'.
Each code represents a detailed map
      - each section has at least one code on it. eg. '1', '1HO'
      - if you hover your cursor over a code, the expanded name of that code should be displayed
      - every code starts with a number; the number indicates which section the detailed map is in
      - the code for a Zones detailed map is just a number (ie. without any letters) eg. the code '1' represents the detailed map of all zones (but none of the overlays) in section 1
      - the code for an Overlay detailed map is a number PLUS letters eg. the code '1HO' represents the detailed map of JUST the heritage overlay (and nothing else) in section 1
      - to further understand what the codes mean, GO TO THE FAQs PAGE.

    • Open a detailed map.
When you click on a particular code on the index map, it opens the relevant detailed map.
To display the detailed zones or overlay map for the area you are interested in, position your mouse cursor over the relevant code on the correct index map section, and click it. The relevant detailed zones map or detailed overlay map will open.
      Detailed map example:
This is an example of a Zones detailed map

    • Read the detailed map you have selected.
Now you need to figure out what the detailed map shows: use the detailed zones & overlay legend to read the detailed map.
      • The detailed legend will have opened automatically in a window SEPARATE to the detailed map.
      • The detailed legend lists all of the different zones and overlays.
      • (By using the detailed legend) For each zone or overlay, you can find out its
        - colour
        - code
        - full name
        - and you can access the detailed description of that zone or overlay.
      • To access a detailed description of any of the zones or overlays, click that zone or overlay in the (separate) legend. The full description of that zone or overlay will open (as a PDF).
