Draft Wildlife (Game) Regulations 2012 and Regulatory Impact Statement
Game hunting in Victoria is a popular recreational activity, an important traditional pastime and generator of jobs. Game hunting has occurred for 150 years and there are currently 41,500 hunters licensed to hunt game (deer, duck and quail) in Victoria.
The regulations which set out the legal requirements for game hunting expire on 11 September 2012 and a new draft set of regulations has been prepared.
The draft Wildlife (Game) Regulations 2012 together with a Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS), have been released for public comment.
The proposed Regulations seek to manage game hunting in a way that provides for continued sustainable, human and safe recreational hunting opportunities.
