About Game Hunting

Man looking through binoculours

Game hunting is becoming more popular, particularly among new and young Victorians. Our role is to ensure game hunting in Victoria is responsible and sustainable, and to educate game hunters about relevant rules and regulations.

We also provide comprehensive information on game hunting, including game species, hunting locations, licensing, hounds and game management, and we conduct research to manage sustainability and improve the experience of Victorian game hunters.

The new Wildlife (Game) Regulations 2012 came into effect on 11 September 2012. The information on this website is being updated to reflect the new regulations. Some of the current information may relate back to the previous regulations.

Please check Game Regulations 2012 to ensure information is current, this page outlines the changes that have come into effect.
