Environment and Community in Forestry

Forestry and Climate change landing image

As Victoria is predicted to become hotter and drier, changes to tree productivity and the occurrence of fire, frosts or pests/diseases may produce negative, and in some cases, positive impacts to forests.

Forests play a unique role in a changing climate. Their long production cycles, tolerance to a variety of climates and ability to reduce greenhouse gases mean that climate change holds unique risks and opportunities for Victorian forest growers.
