The report and photos can assist plantation growers determine which harvesting system is most cost effective for their plantation by providing a detailed analysis of the times taken for each of the individual elements within harvest operations.
Land Use Change and Water Resources – review of policy options
Land use changes can affect the water balance of a catchment by intercepting and using rainfall that would otherwise become surface runoff or recharge to groundwater.
This just released ACIL Tasman study addresses water interception associated with land use change and the range of policy instruments available.

The Code of Practice for Timber Production 2007 (DSE) is a key regulatory instrument that applies to commercial timber production in both public and private forests and plantations in Victoria. It is a statutory document made under Part 5 of the Conservation Forests and Lands Act 1987.
National Plantation Inventory (NPI) Updates
The National Plantation Inventory (NPI) is a component of the National Forest Inventory, which is managed by the Bureau of Rural Sciences. NPI Updates are published annually to assess trends at a State and national level. Data reported includes best available information on total plantation area, new planting and ownership. A Web of Trees - Reconnecting the landscape and the community 2002
A Web of Trees - Reconnecting the landscape and the community 2002 describes the the change in forest cover in the Yan Yan Gurt creek catchment - an increase from 6% to 21% of the total area. More than 20 families have been involved and at least 10 are managing their trees for sawlog production.
