About Forestry

Sun light through treesDPI, with DSE, Vicforests and Parks Victoria, is responsible for Victoria’s forests. We work with commercial industries to maximise timber’s economic value in a socially and environmentally sustainable manner.

We also work with landholders to facilitate forestry into rural properties and communities in a sustainable and productive way, so that forestry can continue to provide benefits for Victorians.

These timber industry profiles provide an overview of the location, structure and markets of Victoria’s native forest timber industry and Victoria’s timber plantation industry.
