Measures, Rulers, Pocket Cards, Posters & Stickers

To help recreational anglers comply with catch limits, particularly minimum legal lengths, the Department has produced a range of plastic measures, stick on rulers and pocket cards (including Know Your Limits), which complement the Victorian Recreational Fishing Guide.

Measures

Recreational fishing measures for abalone, rock lobster and spiny freshwater crayfish are free of charge and are available at some fishing tackle stores that sell recreational fishing licences. They can also be obtained from regional Department of Primary Industry (DPI) offices or by ringing the Customer Service Centre on 136 186.

Note: You must carry a device for measuring abalone when fishing for abalone. Refer to the Victorian Recreational Fishing Guide for more information.

Murray Cod Ruler

A boat sticker ruler that allows anglers to estimate the weight of their Murray cod based purely on its length.

By lying the the Murray cod down on the ruler, anglers can quickly get a weight estimate of the fish without suspending it on scales.

Email go.fishing@dpi.vic.gov.au to obtain one - they are free!

Stickers

The 13 FISH sticker is one of many communication tools used by Fisheries Victoria to inform the public of a reporting line that can be used to report any suspicious fishing activities they may encounter. The sticker lists useful information that assists Fisheries Officers with enforcement.
