Safety and Emergencies - Energy

Powerline worker

Victoria has very reliable electricity supplies, but sometimes power outages can occur. Our guide to power outages outlines some simple things you can do at home to help prevent and prepare for power outages – and as well as what to do during rare occasions when power is lost for a long time.

When there is a major, prolonged or widespread energy supply emergency for either gas or electricity, DPI can take a coordination role to ensure that supplies are restored as quickly as possible.

DPI is also takes an oversight role in planning future energy generation to ensure supplies are able to match demand.
