Submission by Ali Barr to the Regulatory Impact Statement - Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Regulations

4 April 2011

Subject: Energy Efficiency Target

Dear Energy Incentive Team,

I believe that all Victorians should be given the support and incentives they need to change their lifestyles and their living conditions to save energy. This includes the affordable purchase of energy efficient equipment and changes to the design of homes and businesses.

As such I believe the Energy Efficiency Target scheme should be retained and the target should be doubled. In addition I think this scheme should be targeted to lower income earners, pensioners and other groups who have the most to gain from savings on utilities bills. This is especially important in light of the proposed carbon tax. How incentives are structured so that the benefits of this scheme are equitably shared with those in rental accommodation should also be addressed.

I commend you for your good work and hope that it may be continued and expanded so that we can reduce the ecological footprint of Victoria's unsustainable electricity demand.

Yours sincerely,

Ali Barr
