Climate change and energy

We are now embarking on a period of transformation – one in which Victoria will need to contribute to national and global reductions in carbon pollution while providing a stable energy supply for our community.

As our population and energy needs grow, meeting our energy demand with a stable supply of power, while simultaneously reducing our carbon pollution, is a big challenge.

Communities and businesses that use energy as well as the various groups that run the system will all have important roles to play in meeting this challenge.

This transformation will involve:

• Reducing carbon pollution - reducing carbon pollution by placing a price on carbon, carbon capture and storage and renewable energy.
• Meeting our growing energy needs - securing our energy supply and managing peak demand.
• Climate change policies - policy initiatives by the Australian and Victorian Governments.
