Carbon Capture and Storage
Carbon capture and storage is the process where CO2 from sources such as power stations is collected and then stored permanently and securely deep underground in liquid form. This has the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse emissions.
Victoria is suited to carbon capture and storage as the Latrobe Valley is near some of the world’s best potential storage sites in Bass Strait. However, these technologies are still under review.
