The report: Ecological Vegetation Class Mapping at 1:25 000 in Gippsland can be downloaded here. The report details a total of 63 Ecological Vegetation Classes (EVCs) and 44 Floristic Communities that were described and mapped in the East and West Gippsland Study Areas at a scale of 1:25 000 between 1995 and 2000.
EVC mapping of private and public land in the West Gippsland Study Area was carried out by John Davies (Senior Flora and Fauna Officer) and Alison Oates (Flora and Fauna Officer), with assistance in localised areas by Tim Wills and Karen Lester. Mapping commenced in the West Gippsland Study Area's eastern boundary at Lakes Entrance and extended west and south across the Gippsland plains. Most of the mapping is located south of the ranges and foothills of the Victorian Alps in the Baw Baw, Wellington, South Gippsland and Latrobe Shires, extending southward to the Ninety Mile Beach, Wilsons Promontory and Inverloch. The bulk of the public land in the ranges of the foothills and the Great Dividing Range was mapped at 1:100 000 in a separate project for the Regional Forest Agreement (RFA) (external link) process (NRE and Commonwealth of Australia 1999).
