A Large tussock forming grass
C. selloana is reported to invade coastal vegetation including dunes, heathland and heathy woodland, lowland grassland and grassy woodland, dry to wet schlerophyll forest and woodland, riparian vegetation, seasonal wetlands, saline wetlands and pine plantations (Carr, Yugovic & Robinson 1992; Parsons & Cuthbertson 2001; Weber 2003). Native to Argentina it is reported present at 2,100 m (Cabio et al 1997). Tolerant of frost, drought, fire, salinity and waterlogging the species is not tolerant of prolonged or intensive grazing especially when small (Blood 2001; Muyt 2001; Parsons & Cuthbertson 2001).
