Common Name:

African lovegrass

Status:

Regionally Controlled in the North Central, Corangamite, Port Phillip & Westernport (East and West), Goulburn Broken, North East, West Gippsland and East Gippsland CMAs.
Restricted in the Mallee, Wimmera and Glenelg-Hopkins CMAs.

Habitat:

Semi-arid subtropical grasslands and open scrublands, mainly on acid sands and light sandy loams (Parsons and Cuthbertson 1992). It is found in disturbed soils along roadsides, railway tracks, riverbanks and waste places, from where it invades adjacent degraded pastures (Parsons and Cuthbertson 1992). African lovegrass will invade heathland and heathy woodland, lowland grassland and grassy woodland and freshwater wetlands. (Carr et al 1992).
