State Prohibited Weed.

Habitat:

Subhumid to cool regions on dry, sterile or gravelly, mostly acidic soils (Callihan
et al 1997, Muenscher 1955). It is a weed of disturbed areas such as waste land, roadsides, lawns, gardens, pastures, clearings in forest zones, hayfields, cleared timber units and abandoned farmland (Haber 1997, Webb et al 1988). Orange hawkweed invades grassland, mountain meadows, scrub and open and shady undisturbed forest (Callihan et al 1997, Haber 1997, Webb et al 1988).
