Status:State Prohibited Weed. Branched broomrape is also a declared exotic disease under the Plant Health and Plant Products Act 1995.
Habitat: Occurs in a range of climates and prefers alkaline soils, low in nitrogen, and soils that are generally free draining (Animal and Plant Control Commission 1999). It is a weed of crops – pulses, pasture legumes, oilseeds and a wide range of vegetables (Animal and Plant Control Commission 1999).
