Creeping Brookweed

Scientific Name:	Samolus repens	Creeping Brookweed - flowers Ex Matters & Bozon
Status:	Native to all Australian states and to New Zealand.
Plant Description:	Upright or trailing, mutli-stemmed, hairless plant growing from creeping rootstock and stems (stolons) to 20 cm tall. Leaves are less than 15 mm long, oval, elliptical or spathulate, pointed, glossy in appearance and arranged alternately. Flowers are grouped onto a central stalk with the youngest flowers at the top. Flowers are regular with 5 petals, are relatively large and conspicuous (6-10 mm wide) and are white to very pale pink.
Habitat:	Grows in a wide range of soil types from sand to clay loams to clays. Found in salt flats, salt marshes and coastal flats. Prefers wet and damp localities.
