| Objectives 1. To examine the long-term changes in soil organic carbon (modified Walkley-Black/Heanes method) under direct drilling and stubble retention compared to stubble burning and minimal tillage. 2. To determine the long-term effects of stubble management on crop yields and crop agronomy. 3. To determine long term changes in soil structure, biology and properties due to stubble retention and stubble burning under different crop rotations. 4. To benchmark productivity and natural resource use in terms of soil fertility requirements and water use efficiency. 5. To determine the nitrogen inputs from ungrazed subclover with stubble retention compared to stubble burning for following crops. | ![]() |
