Transcript/Description: This video clip demonstrates some users activities in the Victoria Natural Resource Management Knowledge Arcade. The Victoria Knowledge Arcade is a simulated three dimensional environment programmed in Virtual Reality Mark-up Language (VRML1). In the NRM Knowledge Arcade, there are 19 virtual NRM knowledge shops. Each shop provides access to a Government department or a Catchment Management Authority (CMA). In this video clip, the shop of Department of Primary Industries (DPI) was using as an example to show how NRM data, models and tools can be made accessible via a virtual reality interface. In the shop, visitors (users) are able to hyperlink to other DPI knowledge repositories such as Victoria Resources Online (VRO). In the DPI shop the user can pull out models from the virtual filing cabinet, access factsheets from the virtual bookcase or view maps from the virtual map wall.

With VRML and certain software tools, you can create and view distributed, interactive 3-D worlds that are rich with text, images, animation, sound, music and video.
