This research theme seeks to improve our understanding of climate change impacts on the socio-cultural, economic and governance aspects of regional communities across four key research areas; Adaptive Capacity: Development of an Adaptive Capacity Index, a decision support tool for policy experts and key stakeholders to determine priorities for planning and investment. Practice Research: Understanding how industries, organisations and communities respond to new climate change policies given motivations, learning preferences and adaptive strategies at regional scale. Institutional Adaptation: Developing understanding of governance, industry and farmer groups and their knowledge, perception and attitudes to climate change as well as information sources and adaptation strategies, including climate change policy development. Regional Economic Impacts: identifying the key components of the regional economy and their likely impacts from climate change along the supply chain from production to consumption.

Indicators of Adaptive Capacity of Regional Communities

Spatial locations possess varying capabilities that influence their capacity to adapt to climate change. A region's capacity for adaptation is influenced by both natural resources and human capability.
