Portable Document Format (.pdf)
To enable you to read the downloadable .pdf files found in this site you will first need to download the Adobe Acrobat Reader software. Every attempt is made on this site to keep pdf file sizes down to less than 1.5 mb in size - which may mean that some documents need to be split up into a number of separate pdf files. This can be installed for free from the Adobe website (external link).

These files will open in the Web browser. To Download them, select 'File/Save as...', after they open in the browser.

Printing
When printing pages from this site, depending on your printer configuration, you may get cropping of information from the right hand side of your page. If this occurs use file/page-setup to reduce page size, or to print in Landscape configuration.

System Requirements
We recommend that you use Internet Explorer version 5.5+, Firefox, Netscape 6+ to have the best user experience of the VRO website, but the website should provide a good user experince using any modern standards compliant browser.

This website has been optimised for display at a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, but will display on a computer with a smaller resolution.

Display Options
To display the text as larger or smaller, use 'View/Font Size' menu options.

About the Project
Victorian Resources Online is a major component of the Victorian Resource Atlas project. From 1997-2001, this project was funded by the Victorian Government’s Agriculture and Food Initiative (AFI) and is now being supported by the State Government's Ecologically Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (ESAI).

Victorian Resource Atlas project
The Victorian Resource Atlas project commenced in July 1997 and will extend for four years. This project aims to provide resource information to support:

Victorian Resources Online is a key information delivery mechanism for the project. In addition, a number of hardcopy and possibly CD products will be developed. The Victorian Resource Atlas project has made a significant investment in developing new information products, particularly in relation to soil and land. A wide range of soil maps and associated information will be made available during the course of the project.

Victorian Resources Online
Victorian Resources Online provides a wide range of natural resources information with a major focus on map-based information. It links to a wide range of other Websites and provides 'signposting' to hardcopy material (eg. directory to soil and land survey information).

Initially, broadscale information have been presented (eg. maps at 1:1 million scale) in 'Victoria in Profile'. Over the course of the project more detailed regional scale information will be developed in Regional VRO Sites. A key feature of the site will be the bringing together of natural resources information which will be the 'best available' and provided in user-friendly formats.
