The approximate population of the Nort East region is just under 86 800. The most populated local government areas (LGAs) include the Rural City of Wodonga and Rural City of Wangaratta, which combine to make up 62% of the region’s total population. Local Government councils in the North East region include the Shires of Alpine, Indigo, Towong, Delatite, East Gippsland and Wellington as well as the Rural Cities of Wangaratta and Wodonga.
