The Marine and Freshwater Systems (MFS) conducts research to ensure the sustainable development of Victoria ’s commercial and recreational fishing and aquaculture industries. Research is also undertaken to ensure Victoria’s marine and freshwater fish resources and their natural environments are managed sustainably.
Working with government, industry and the community, MFS provides technical, research, consultancy and education services required for the management of aquatic resources and their environment.
In particular, MFS has expertise in marine and freshwater fisheries, marine and freshwater environmental research and in designing and providing aquatic education programs.

This website presents MSF's science and education activities in fisheries science, freshwater and marine biology, and ecology and natural resource management. It has information relevant to fishers (recreational, commercial, aquaculture farmers), environmentalists, scientists, students and anyone interested in the fish and the environments that support them.
