AFFA's EMS NavigatorA web-based tool developed by AFFA for EMS in agriculture. The Navigator was developed by the EMS Working Group as a collaborative Commonwealth - State government initiative to improve access to information about EMS and related activities.
NSW Agriculture EMS siteNSW Agriculture's EMS page has a number of comprehensive examples of EMS components and also contains the proceedings from the Environmental Management Systems in Australian Agriculture Conference (Ballina NSW, November 2001).
EMS Incentives Program
Commonwealth Government
This Commonwealth Government funded program provides primary producers with a cash reimbursement of up to 50% ($3000 maximum) of the costs associated with developing and implementing an EMS.
Victorian Government EMS site (within EPA site)This site outlines the Government's commitment to introduce best practice business tools for EMS in Victorian Government Departments. This site outlines which Departments are involved, the aims of the program, auditing and reporting requirements.
Cotton Australia
Cotton Australia's website contains a section on Best Management Practices developed for the cotton industry. The site explains why BMP's are needed, what the benefits are, information about auditing and useful contacts.
Department of Primary Industries- QLD "EcoRange: Certification for Rangelands"The EcoRange Market Research project is based on development of market oriented environmental certification for rangeland pastoral industries. A good definition of environmental certification is provided on this site. The project applies to rangeland pastoral industries in QLD but can be applied to suit other areas of Australia.
Pacific Coast Eco BananasAlthough a non-government EMS project, this site is a good example of EMS being applied in the banana industry. There are good examples of the Environmental Policy components to meet ISO14001.
JAS-ANZ
Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand
JAS-ANZ is used for certification of management systems. This site covers accreditation programs and bodies and the JAS-ANZ register of certified organisations, accredited bodies and certified personnel.
Rural Industries Research & Development Corporation (RIRDC) EMS siteThis site uses information from NSW Agriculture including: an EMS newsletter, workshop proceedings, case studies, research reports and conferences, events and courses associated with EMS.

ISO14000 Information CentreThis site contains information about implementing ISO14001, training, resources and also features EMS articles.
LEAF - United KingdomLEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) was set up in 1991 to develop and promote Integrated Farm Management (IFM). LEAF is a management package to help farmers record, evaluate and improve farming practices against the standards of IFM. LEAF is divided into self-assessment, advisory information, audit guidelines and information about LEAF demonstration farms.
Ontario Farm Plan - CanadaThis program started in Ontario, Canada in 1993 and has been very sucessful in helping farmers adopt more environmentally sustainable farming practices. Environmental Farm Plans are voluntarily prepared by farm families to increase their awareness of the environment on their farm. A number of EMS pilots in Australia have been based on this work.
Farm*A*Syst - United StatesThis US program is based on using environmental assessments to prevent pollution on farms. It is a partnership between government agencies and private business. Areas covered include water quality of wells, livestock waste, nutrient management. It is a voluntary program that began in 1991.
US Environmental Protection Authority - EMS webpageThe US EPA site provides EMS information and resources for businesses, public and state and federal agencies. Topics relate to developing EMS, agency EMS policies, getting assistance and links to other US sites.
Resources on the Internet for EMS (based in USA)This site, created by Cleaner Production.Com, covers internet resources relating to EMS awareness, perception (how EMS relates to other schemes) and implementation. A number of pilot EMS programs from around the world are covered. The Guide was written after a review of resources online.
EURO-EMASThe European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme was launched in 1995 and revised in 2001. It is a voluntary scheme for organisations to evaluate and improve their environmental performance. The site includes what EMAS is, European and global activities, EMAS documents and contacts.
