AgBio 21: Strategic initiatives for research innovation in biotechnology for Victoria's agrifood sector

One of the world's most significant challenges is to increase, or simply maintain, food production while ensuring that production systems are sustainable and do not contribute to the degradation of land and water resources. Biotechnology has emerged as one of the most promising platforms to meet this challenge.

The AgBio 21 Strategy sets out the strategic initiatives to be undertaken in order to develop Victoria's biotechnology research base in the agricultural production and food processing (AgriFood) sector. The Victorian Government’s Biotechnology Strategic Development Plan describes the strategy. AgBio 21: Strategic initiatives for research innovations in biotechnology for Victoria’s agrifood sector is the companion document to this publication, and highlights Victoria's strengths in AgriFood research and development and emphasises the Government's commitment to building on these assets.
