GeoVic - Explore Victoria online

Service Update - 17/09/2009:
We have implemented a new set of infrastructure for GeoVic to improve the service reliability. We are also hoping to be able to return the Ecological Vegetation Class (EVC) layers as a result.

Please note that if you have any saved sessions, they will continue to work for a week or so, but you will need to rebuild them using the new system as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience.

The Earth Resources web mapping application allows users to search our geospatial databases and display the results as maps or tables.

Datasets that can be viewed and interrogated include mineral, petroleum and extractive industries tenements, land-use and airborne geophysical survey boundaries, gravity, magnetic and radiometric images, borehole & well data, surface geochemistry results, mines and mineral occurrences, and geological maps and interpretations at various scales.

This application will eventually provide our clients with on-line access to all Earth Resources services and databases to help them carry out their business.

System Recommendations

  • GeoVic is optimised for use with Internet Explorer 5.5+. Most features should however work with any recent standards compliant browser. Some features may not work in older browsers.
  • A computer screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels or better will give best results, but GeoVic will work at 800 x 600.
  • It is recommended that you turn off any Pop-Up Blocker. This feature is commonly used by Google and Yahoo! toolbars and very recent web browsers (Windows XP SP2).
  • An internet connection speed of greater than 56k
