Fish Cleaning Tables Program

The Government has committed $450,000 over three years to install new fish cleaning tables on or near jetties and boat ramps in popular fishing locations throughout Victoria.

The Victorian Recreational Fishing Peak Body (VRFish) will assist in identifying high priority locations for the installation of new fish cleaning tables. Recreational fishers can also assist with identifying suitable area. A facilitator will assist proponents to gain necessary approvals from other agencies such as Councils and the Department of Sustainability and Environment.

A range of six different designs have been developed to provide options for meeting the requirements of different locations. Features include roomy stainless steel cleaning surfaces, spring loaded taps, waste disposal options and roofs to provide shelter.

The attached map (PDF 152KB) identifies sites as high priorities for fish cleaning tables. Planning and progression has been made towards installation at some sites. Tables at most of these sites are expected to be installed by the end of 2009.

If you want to register your interest in a new fish cleaning table at your local boat ramp or jetty please send an email to enhanced.fishing@dpi.vic.gov.au

Please also provide your contact details along with information on why the fish cleaning table is needed and where exactly you think it should be installed.
