Water Information and Initiatives for Victoria's Drought Affected Farmers
Information on Victoria’s water resources and supplies is available from DPI on 136 186. Information is available on the web at Victorian Resources Online. Water information is also available from the local water authorities listed below.
New Initiatives October 2007
- Pumping of 'Dead Water' in Waranga Basin (PDF 24kb) to provide additional irrigation water to the Goulburn system.
Previously Announced Initiatives
- The establishment of new emergency bores and water supplies and the upgrading of existing sites.
- Information on emergency water supply points for water cartage are available from DPI on 136 186 or on the web at Access to water or via the local water authorities listed below.
- Customers of Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water (GWMWater) unable to receive their winter dam fill are eligible for rebates on the purchase of Domestic and Stock Water Tanks. For information contact DPI on 136 186 or GWMWater on 1300 659 961. Tanks must be installed by 31 December 2007 and rebate applications lodged with GWMWater by 31 January 2008. Supply System 5 customers need to install tanks by 30 June 2008 and lodge applications by 31 July 2008.
- The Carted Water Rebate is available to eligible low income households for the purchase of non-mains domestic water. For information contact DHS on 1800 658 521 or at the DHS website - Victorian State Concessions section (external link).
