Promoting Victorian produce

The Department of Primary Industries is proud to promote and support the food and wine of regional Victoria. Victoria’s success delivering premium-quality food to domestic and international markets is hinged on its reputation as a ‘clean and green’ supplier with responsible agricultural systems. Combine this reputation with the state’s natural competitive advantages, such as excellent access to water resources, a variety of soil types and a temperate climate, and the result is world-class agriculture and food processing sector. Programs proudly sponsored by DPI include: Mercurio’s Menu: A weekly food and travel series which showcases the quality, abundance and diversity of food and wine from some of Victoria’s most passionate producers. The Food Trail: A six part TV series hosted by Paul Mercurio, with recipes using some of Victoria’s finest quality produce. From its five provincial regions, Victoria produces more than 25 per cent of Australia's agriculture and food (‘agrifood’) production on just 3 per cent of the nation's agricultural land.
