The Wimmera Mallee Intensive Livestock Economic Analysis Tool
The Wimmera Mallee Intensive Livestock Economic Analysis Tool analyses the profitability of potential investments in lamb finishing, cattle feed lotting, pig production and poultry production.
It is not a “feedlot” or “animal production” model. Its intention is not to model the biological system, but instead uses basic assumptions and industry standards of animal production, costs and prices to model the potential profitability of intensive livestock systems. Existing feedlot or animal production models may act as useful sources of biological data for use in this analysis tool.
The tool is presented as a workbook in MS Excel. There is a worksheet for each of the five intensive livestock production systems, which are composed of a series of screens with “Go to” buttons for navigation between screens. An instruction manual is also provided.
