1EJ Whitten Legends dinner
The North West advisory committee of the Young Dairy Development Program is offering young dairy farmers the opportunity to attend the Whitten Dinner, on July 1, 2008.
Young dairy leaders will be rubbing shoulders with AFL legends, athletes, celebrities and high profile businessmen one of the AFL’s premier events for the season.
The dinner features musical performances, keynote speakers, celebrity interviews and a charity memorabilia auction.
After dinner, young dairy farmers can take their VIP seating to watch the Ray White EJ Whitten Legends Game.
Telstra Dome
A bus will be leaving Kerang at 12pm with stops at Cohuna, Dingee and Myers Flat.
Tickets are strictly limited.

4Drought Policy Review Expert Social Panel
Have your say on drought policy.
The panel investigating the social impacts of drought is holding a public forum and wants to hear your views.
The panel would like to know:
  • How has drought impacted individuals’ mental and physical health, family relationships, and local communities?
  • What government and non-government social support services are working well, how could it be done better and what else could be made available?

26Women in the dairy industry in Northern Victoria
Genetics Australia is hosting a special meeting free to all women in the dairy industry. As well as inspiring speakers, up-to-date information on issues relevant to the industry, there will be a delicious lunch, lucky door prises and lots of time for networking and relaxing.
Dr Ray Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Genetics Australia said that he was particularly encouraging young women to register. “They are the future” he said “be they daughters of farmers, apprentices, doing relief milking or just interested in learning about careers in the industry, we want them to see they are the future of the dairy industry.”

4Australian Government Drought Assistance Mobile Services
Drought Buses have serviced drought-affected areas across all states of Australia, with one bus dedicated to servicing the Murray-Darling Basin since July 2007. The Australian Government introduced the buses to help people cope with the effects of the prolonged drought. The buses have been successful in providing information and assistance in a friendly face-to-face environment to many communities.

19The Country Corporate Black Tie Ball
The Victorian Farmers Federation’s Young Agribusiness Professionals Group (VFF YAPs) will host a Country Corporate Black Tie Ball in conjunction with the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) during next month’s Royal Melbourne Show.
The Country Corporate Black Tie Ball 2008 will be held at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds for city slickers and future country corporate leaders alike.

“The primary goal of the YAPs Country Corporate Black Tie Ball is to bridge the rural – urban divide. This Ball aims to bring the country and the city closer together by getting young country people out of their dusty boots and flanny, into a suit, and into the city and encouraging urban based professionals to develop an understanding of the challenges faced by their rural and regional counterparts,” Ms Addlem said.
