Your energy future lies in Victoria: All-Energy Australia Expo and Conference

Submissions for ETIS2 funding close on 31 August 2009. Workshops are available to all respondents on request and may include experts on environmental issues, approval processes, transmission access, water and waste, etc. If you wish to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss your proposal prior to 31 August 2009, please email your request to: dpi.etis@dpi.vic.gov.au

Request for Proposals

New Information
## The RFP requires respondents to confirm that they will accept the Funding Agreement in full or provide a marked up version of the Funding Agreement showing the respondent’s specific proposed departures and reasons / justification for those departures at the time of application. Any proposed changes to the Funding Agreement must be included in the respondent's response to the RFP. An assessment will then be made.
The ETIS2 Funding Agreement Pro-forma is now provided as a Word Document to enable respondents to make changes to the Pro-forma Agreement for submission with the RFP. Please note that any changes must be made using "Track Changes"

** Following the launch on 20 February 2009 of the Commonwealth Government's Renewable Energy Demonstration Program (REDP), and its requirement for submission of formal proposals by 15 April 2009, we recognise that this timescale may reduce the opportunity to prepare a comprehensive proposal for the REDP funding. We have therefore removed the requirement for projects to have sought Commonwealth Government funding to be eligible for funding under our Sustainable Energy Large Scale Demonstration Program, and we have amended our Request for Proposals accordingly.

We do suggest that you make the Commonwealth Government Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism aware of your project and would suggest that you provide a brief overview of your project to the REDP Program Manager at: REDP@ret.gov.au.

Should you require any clarification of this advice, please contact Mark Hull, Manager Sustainable Technology Development: mark.hull@dpi.vic.gov.au.

Proposals are now being accepted for large scale pre-commercial demonstrations of new low-emission and renewable energy projects.

    Current Funding Opportunities

The Victorian Government’s Energy Technology Innovation Strategy (ETIS) now has funding available to support new energy technology projects which help lower emissions and combat climate change.

A$72 million has been allocated to support new large scale sustainable energy demonstration projects, including, energy storage, as well as advancing technologies for solar, wave, bioenergy, biofuels and geothermal energy.

A further A$110 million will support new large scale carbon capture and storage projects in Victoria.

Working alongside local and international industry partners, major research bodies and investors, the ETIS strategy aims to accelerate development in new energy technologies.

The available funding is part of more than $A370 million in investment from the Victorian Government, designed to drive research, development and large-scale demonstration of emerging low-emission energy technologies as part of Victoria’s wider response to climate change (external link).

    Latrobe Valley Electricity Generators

The majority of electricity production in the State of Victoria is provided by brown coal power stations located in the Latrobe Valley. These are located in close geographical proximity and potentially can provide a significant source of CO2 emissions.

Follow this link for a brief descriptions of each plant and the contact details for each.

Development of Carbon Capture and Storage in Victoria

The Victorian Government is committed to the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) to contribute to our transition to a low emissions future. Victoria’s pathway to an integrated network over the next ten years and beyond will be based on the staged development of a scalable, multi-user commercial CCS network incorporating key early-stage foundation projects which will not only accelerate CCS technology development to commercial readiness, but also drive network scale.
