Will my first bill after the meter replacement look any different?
Not necessarily. If there are any changes to your electricity bill an explanation of those changes will be communicated to you by your electricity retailer.

Will I still get estimated bills once my smart meter is installed?
The intention is to collect actual meter data remotely as quickly as possible after the smart meter is installed. By reading the data remotely it will remove the need for estimated meter reading.

In the early stages of the smart meter rollout you may still receive estimated bills until the supporting telecommunications network and computer systems are fully operational.

What is a Time-Of-Use (TOU) tariff?
A Time of Use tariff is a price structure that varies based on the time of day or week. Time Of Use charges are higher in peak periods and lower in off peak periods.

Time Of Use pricing for the traditional off-peak period will be applied to all electricity consumption not just for controlled load equipment such as storage hot water systems and floor heating. The smart meter enables the application of Time Of Use tariffs.

How and when will Time Of Use (TOU) tariffs effect me?
After your smart meter is installed you may be offered a Time Of Use tariff. This means is that the price of electricity per kWh will vary depending on when you use it. Depending how and when you use electricity you may pay more or less or see very little difference. Retailers may have different products or Time Of Use tariffs, which will become available over time giving you an opportunity to find the one that best suits you.
