Information @ DPI

Information @ DPI is the DPI Information Centre at 1 Spring Street in Melbourne. It provides information about the Department of Primary Industries and customer service to the general public. There is a bookshop facility as well as specialist services catering to the needs of the Minerals and Petroleum Division.

Products and services to the public include:

• provision of information about DPI;
  
  
• sale of departmental publications (including LandLearn kits, geological maps and reports, petroleum reports and information, open file mineral tenement data, etc);
  
  
• sale of a small range of books on topics covering Agriculture, Horticulture, Viticulture, Agroforestry, Sustainable Farming Practices, Geology, Minerals, Petroleum, etc;
  
  
• distribution of free DPI related material such as reports, information brochures, etc;
  
  
• licence sales (Recreational Fishing, Miner's Rights, Beekeepers);
  
  
• computers to access the DPI website and the Elixir online library catalogue;
  
  
• access to Eureka and GeoVic (the Minerals and Petroleum Division’s geospatial databases);
  
  
• access to EDM (the open file minerals exploration reports database);
  
  
• quiet reading area;
  
  
• pre-ordered material from the Knowledge Resource Centre, Werribee (the DPI Library) which can be viewed at Spring Street;
  
  
• access to the Minerals and Petroleum Library collection (such as unpublished geological reports, current and historical geological and goldfields maps, mine plans, reference books, etc).
