The Hon. Peter Batchelor MP was appointed Victorian Minister for Energy and Resources in November 2006.

Information about Minister Batchelor Portfolio Responsibilities

As Victorian Minister for Energy and Resources, Peter Batchelor is charged with the responsibility of delivering the Brumby Government's energy policy, Meeting Victoria's Energy Challenge. The policy aims to deliver affordable, reliable energy to Victorian families and businesses in an environmentally and socially responsible way.

Professional Profile

Minister Batchelor is also responsible for the portfolio of Community Development, within the Department of Planning and Community Development and is Leader of Government Business in the Legislative Assembly. From 2002 to 2005 he was Minister for Major Projects and from 1999-2006 Minister for Transport (including Roads and Ports).

Minister Batchelor has been the Member for Thomastown since 1990, which covers the suburbs of Epping, Fawkner, Lalor, Reservoir and Thomastown. He has a long involvement with the Australian Labour Party, and was Victorian ALP Secretary from 1983 to 1990.
