Weed Spotter training sessions and other events are conducted on a regular basis across Victoria for new and existing Weed Spotters. Newly registered volunteers usually attend an Introductory Weed Spotter training session and then move onto more detailed Secondary training that may include the following topics:

Sessions can include:

  • Plant Biology
  • Recognising Weed Alert species
  • Hygiene, Health and Safety
  • Reporting Weed Alert species
  • Collecting and submitting plant specimens

There may also be specialised sessions from time to time on topics such as aquatic weeds or weed spotting at weekend markets.

Training Modules

These documents are used by the Weed Alert staff in the provision of training to Weed Spotter volunteers. The secondary training materials are designed for those who have already completed the introductory training.
