Stay Safe on the Roads

DPI is working hard with communities to mitigate the locust plague but it won’t be possible to entirely eradicate the threat: there will be adult locusts that survive and swarm, and some may be blown in from interstate.

Locust swarms pose a hazard on the roads and all people planning to drive around in an area where there are locusts swarming should read the Departments fact sheet - Staying Safe When Driving Through Locusts fact sheet, or contact the DPI Locust Hotline on 1300 135 559 to for more advice.
