Lice in Sheep

Sheep lice, Bovicola ovis, is a common insect parasite which costs the Australian sheep industry in excess of $100 million annually. The costs are incurred in lost production as well as the cost of chemicals and labour in control and eradication programs. It is estimated that up to 30% of Victorian sheep flocks have a lice infestation annually.
