Hay versus Grain Calculator
This program calculates the gross margin of grain and hay production in dollars per hectare.
Assisting farmers with decision of whether a crop should be left for harvest or cut for hay.
Dry Matter Calculator
Calculates the yield of dry matter in tonnes per hectare, this assists farmers with the timing of cutting and baling hay.

Timing of baling is critical for maximizing the value of hay. Optimum moisture for baling is in the range of 15% to 20% moisture (wet basis). Baling at lower than 15% moisture will result in greater harvesting losses.
Storing hay at greater than 20% moisture will result in some moulding and heating, greater dry matter and nutrient loss during storage, and some discoloration

| Below 25% | Ball holds its shape. Free moisture runs through fingers. Lot of free moisture on hand. |
| 25% - 30% | Ball holds its shape. No free moisture runs. Hand is moist. |
| 35% - 40% | Ball falls apart slowly. No free moisture. Little moisture on hand indicates lower end of range. No moisture indicates higher end range. |
