Future Farming Initiative

The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Future Farming Strategy is a four-year, $205 million initiative focused on positioning farm businesses, the processing industries they supply, and the communities in which they are based, to meet the large challenges and opportunities of the future.Within this package, Farm Services Victoria will deliver a four-year, $20 million initiative to support the Victorian community to take new action on invasive plants and animals.
DPI will deliver a suite of projects including:
- Securing Wild Dogs through improved management
- Building the capacity of Local Government to respond to pests
- Improving biosecurity at a regional scale by managing Regionally Prohibited Weeds
- Extending Victoria's prevention and early response capability for new and emerging pests
- Community participation in fox control
- Improving fox control on private land
- Supporting community-led action on pests through voluntary compliance
- Improving the use of biocontrol for management of widespread weeds
