WestVic Dairy News - January 2011 Edition
Buying And Feeding Weather Damaged Grain
Ongoing wet conditions in the grain growing regions are likely to result in large quantities of sprouted and weather damaged grain becoming available as feed grain.
An excellent fact sheet describing the tips and traps involved in using this grain has been released by Dairy Australia’s Grains2Milk program.
Key issues covered by the fact sheet include advice on whether you should purchase damaged grain and information on nutritional value, storage, processing, feeding, and productivity and health risks.
Download the fact sheet from the Dairy Australia website www.dairyaustralia.com.au, or contact your local dairy extension officer at DPI Colac on (03) 5233 5533, Camperdown (03) 5557 5805 or Warrnambool (03) 5561 9946. Copies are also available from WestVic Dairy (03) 5592 2477.
