Gippsland - How Now Gippy Cow
January 2011 Edition

DairySage Mentoring

Since 2007, DairySage Mentoring has been successfully piloting programs around the state. In March 2011 it will return to Gippsland to offer this exciting personal development opportunity to people across the dairy industry.

Open to farmers; the young and young at heart but also manufacturers and service providers, DairySage Mentoring will return to the region to set up meaningful and supported mentoring partnerships.

DairySage Mentoring offers something new to people wishing to progress personal or professional goals with the support and guidance of a mentor but also offers something for those wishing to give something back to the industry by volunteering to be a dairy industry mentor. DairySage Mentoring aims to establish more formal mentoring partnerships by training and supporting each mentor and mentee.

The process will be established through a free two-day training workshop, where the mentee will be supported through a process to establish and clearly define goals and a personal development plan. Mentors will also receive training to ensure they fully understand their role and responsibilities.

The matching process is undertaken as part of the training workshop and participants are provided with tools to ensure effective mentoring for a minimum period of six months.

With funding provided by the Gardiner Foundation, DairySage Mentoring has been developed by WestVic Dairy and The People in Dairy program from Dairy Australia.

Applications are now open to participate in this program. For more information or to download the application forms visit www.westvicdairy.com.au or contact Karen Baum, phone 0417 398 978 or email pembroke@dcsi.net.au
