The Biosecurity Strategy for Victoria outlines a new vision for biosecurity management in Victoria and demonstrates our commitment to:
- protect Victoria from biosecurity threats that affect our primary industries, environment, social amenity and human health
- understand and address emerging risks that may arise from climate change, changes in land use and increasing global travel and trade.
The Biosecurity Strategy for Victoria builds on the current system and sets out the actions required to ensure we are well positioned to meet future biosecurity challenges.
Building partnerships; strengthening the coverage of our biosecurity system; improving decision making and prioritising investment; building skills and capability; and improving our surveillance and incursion response systems will be critical to our success.
The Biosecurity Strategy for Victoria – implementation plan 2010 to 2013 is the first stage of the transition to a new biosecurity system in Victoria. The plan outlines the Victorian Government’s key current programs and flags its future directions in this critical area.
