Crown Land Water Frontage Licences

Crown water frontage is publicly owned land on the banks of waterways.

Stock can be grazed on Crown water frontage under licences issued by the Department of Sustainability and Environment.

Since 1994, Crown Land Water Frontage Licences in Victoria have been renewed every five years.

Although the latest renewal is in late 2009, catchment and land managers are progressively working with licence holders to offer financial help to fence and revegetate river banks while maintaining stock access to water.

Not only does this keep waterways healthier, it also has many benefits for the farmer or landholder.
