2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission

Government response to the Royal Commission Interim Report

On Monday 31 August, the government released its response to the recommendations of the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission Interim Report.

Please see the Premier's media release, as well as the response to each recommendation in the document below. The government will provide a full implementation plan to the Royal Commission by 30 September, as requested by the Commission.

Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission Interim Report

The Victorian Bushfires Royal Commissioners, the Hon. Bernard Teague AO, Ron McLeod AM and Susan Pascoe AM, presented their Interim Report to the Victorian Lieutenant Governor on 17 August 2009.

State of Victoria's submissions for the interim report of the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission

The State of Victoria's Submission for the Interim Report of the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission was filed on 1st July 2009.

On 6 July the Commission directed the State to provide further material on proposals in the State's submission. This further material is provided in response to the Commission's direction. It is made up of further detail on the Township Protection Plans and Neighbourhood Safer Places programs referred to in the State's submission.

Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission Interim Report No. 2

The 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission Interim Report No. 2 – Priorities for Building in Bushfire-Prone Areas was provided to the government by the commission on Tuesday 24 November 2009.

In accordance with legislation, the report was then tabled in Parliament.
