Accommodation in Melbourne

For those who will be attending the workshop at Melbourne University (external link) on Monday December 1, you will need to organise your own accommodation. Accommodation for Sunday November 30 and/or Monday December 1 are not covered in the registration fee. Accommodation can be booked within close proximity, some of which are within walking distance, to the workshop venue (Melbourne University, Parkville Campus).

The accommodation options (external link) are extensive in Melbourne. Choose ‘Accommodation Search’ on this website, and then in Step 1 select 'Parkville' – a suburb close to the University. The accommodation may be up to one kilometre away from the workshop venue. Or you may select 'Melbourne' and look at accommodation options in the CBD.

The CBD options are many, and are on average about 2 kilometres away from the University. If you stay in the CBD you would probably find yourself taking the tram up to the University (Parkville Campus). This is the most convenient mode of transport. You can find information on routes and timetables via the
yarra trams (external link) website.

Alternatively, you may be able to find more modest accommodation at various residential Colleges located around the Parkville campus. Typically, accommodation is in a single room, with shared bathrooms and other facilities. Some Colleges are able to provide meals as part of the accommodation package.

Please email the Intercollegiate Office (external link), giving details of your requirements, including dates and number of rooms, and your contact details. If any College is able to help you, they will contact you directly.

Accommodation in Marysville

As pointed out in the registration form, accommodation for the conference is covered with the full registration fee. Accommodation is at Marylands (external link) Country House (the conference venue), which has ensuite bedrooms for singles and couples (double or twin bedded). All bedrooms are centrally heated and have:
  • continental quilts
  • remote control televisions
  • clock radios
  • tea and coffee making facilities
  • ceiling fans
If you have any queries about accommodation, please email your questions to us.
