Earth resources related branches within DPI consist of the following:
Earth Resources Division
- Business Development and Technology - The Business Development and Technology Branch aims to attract investment in sound resource development projects, encourage and promote innovation and technology development as an enabler of investment and assist resource projects to navigate through the approvals processes, compatible with environmental and social expectations.
- GeoScience Victoria - GeoScience Victoria manages geoscience information on behalf of the State, assesses and promotes Victoria's minerals and petroleum exploration potential and provides geoscience advice to government and industry.
- Information Development - The Information Development Branch has a strategic role in helping the Earth Resources Division achieve its goals through effective use and management of its information resources. This involves maintaining and developing information systems and helping other Earth Resources branches to improve data quality, access, and usage.
- Earth Resources Regulation - The Earth Resources Regulation Branch regulates the minerals, extractive, petroleum, pipelines and geothermal industries in Victoria and off-shore waters. It provides a consistent and transparent tenement management regime, together with environmental standards, monitoring and enforcement that ensure these industries comply with their obligations and meet community expectations.
DPI Policy and Strategy Group
- Earth Resources Policy - The Earth Resources Policy Unit is responsible for monitoring, analysing, developing and communicating policy and legislation relating to the earth resources sector.
