Environment

The Earth Resources Regulation Branch provides statewide environmental regulation of the mining, quarrying and petroleum industries. We seek to encourage responsible industry behaviour that meets or exceeds the expectations of the community for environmental management and protection.

We publish a number of Codes and Guidelines for the management of specific environmental issues.

Work Plans submitted as part of the approval process for exploration, mining or petroleum tenements, must address environmental issues. The Licensing & Approvals section contains information about work plan requirements.
