Channel Deepening - Baywide Monitoring Program

Fisheries Victoria’s primary role in channel deepening is to detect changes to the distribution, abundance and composition of fish stocks in Port Phillip Bay outside of expected variability by delivering the Fish Stock and Recruitment Program on behalf of the Port of Melbourne Corporation.

Incident Report

In July 2008, two Australian fur seals were found in the net used to undertake the anchovy trawl survey. One seal was deceased. An investigation was undertaken, which is summarised in the attached incident report (PDF 132KB).
