Family Fishing Events
If you or someone you know would like to try fishing, (even if you have fished before), bring your family along to one of our free Premier Lake Family Fishing events. Workshops and activities throughout the day will provide excitement, fun and give you all of the skills and information that are required to start fishing.
Dates for Family Fishing Festivals in 2009 are:
- April 18 - Eildon Pondage
- May 2 - Lake Hyland
- August 9 - Kennington Reservoir
- September 19 - Lillydale Lake
- October 18 - Jubilee Lake
The five Premier Lakes will all be stocked in 2009 with rainbow trout, including 'Premier' sized fish (>1 kg) offering families some exciting fishing opportunities.
These free festivals feature instructed fishing workshops for children led by angling club volunteers and informative talks by Fisheries Officers. Participants can also improve their fishing skills by attending casting and knot-tying clinics provided by Fishcare volunteers. Festivals are complemented with engaging stage shows, cooking displays, prizes and give-aways, and other non-fishing entertainment to cater for the whole family.
